Keep it Simple! Greetings, potential BetterHelp client! I am revising this BH bio in the Summer of 2026. This is another important time of changes: cleaning out the old and exploring the new. And that is how I treat the therapy process. I work with clients who want to actively eliminate and complete certain areas of their life, and to use that released energy to create new directions. As you see above, my motto for everything is to “Keep It Simple.” And that includes every aspect of our lives. My therapeutic approach is to 1.) assess your current life situation, and then to 2.) teach some basic life-lessons which , if practiced, will lead to your own development of a powerful set of “Self-Therapy” skills. Self-therapy – that should be the goal of every counselor and client. Over several decades of studying and practicing a variety of counseling styles, the daily practice of working with the clients actually became simpler! I have created a simple program that demonstrated that search for simplicity. Here is an idea of how that program works: Step One: listen to the client’s challenging stories Step Two: teach a simple exercise (a self-therapy tool) to address those challenges Step Three: practice, and then repeat the first two steps! Also, a touch of humor and artistic creativity can be very helpful in this process. Before we work together on a regular basis, decide if/when you are prepared for a series of teaching sessions based on learning "Self-Therapy skills" before you click on my name as a BH counselor. My program has weekly lessons to read and study, freely available on my own pages. Those topics, and that outline, will determine how we proceed from week to week. If you would like to look over this program ahead of time, to help you decide, it is on my own web site here: ptp-express.space. Practical Note: I prefer the "video session" format, because the "chat" and "phone" formats limit the quality of our exchanges. Also, around the clock "asynchronous messaging/journaling" is encouraged. My session days are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I look forward to traveling the Search for Simplicity path with you!

Life gets to us sometimes. Sometimes we need help. I'll be your coach, support, and cheerleader through this tough time in your life, and can provide you with the good constructive feedback that you need. If you're motivated to make positive change in your life, I might be able to help you. I find that seeking to answer the common question of "why am I doing this?" is very helpful and freeing for people, and reminds them that they can in fact make changes to get their lives back on track. My approach is based on being direct and honest. Your time and money are valuable. I don't want to waste either of those, and wish to get you pointed in a positive direction. I'll work to help you get out of your own way, so that you can give life both barrels. My academic background is Motivational Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Though those are my theoretical approaches, I will draw on any treatment necessary to help you achieve your goals. There is no "one size fits all approach" as people are all very different from one another. I do my best to tailor your treatment to you, whether we're dealing with depression, stress, anxiety, or coaching. I have Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Psychology, having graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2009 with a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have been in practice for over 10 years, and have worked in mental health since 2006. I've had a wide variety of work experiences, such as working in an Inpatient mental health unit(Psych Hospital), drug rehab clinics, eating disorder clinics, and clinical work at a Private Psychiatric Practice. I also draw on my various life experiences and previous work experience prior to mental health to assist my patients. If you choose to work with me, we just might be able to move forward and get the change you've been looking for. I look forward to working with you!
