Learn MoreAbout Me
Hello! I’m Melanie, and I’m so glad you’re here. With a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our sessions. Before earning my Master’s, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an Associate’s degree in Criminology. In 2007, I became a Maryland Board Certified Supervisor, which has further enriched my journey in mental health care.
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor-Supervisor, my career has been diverse and fulfilling. I started as a School-Based Therapist working with children and families, and retired from maximum security corrections after a 20 year career. Alongside this, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and couples in private practice, teaching as an adjunct professor on the Psychology of Adjustment, and supporting both males and females of all ages in a local detention center. Currently, I enjoy working with teenage and adult clients from all walks of life, whether it’s individual, couple, or family therapy.
Over the last 20+ years as a mental health therapist, I’ve developed a deep passion for health and wellness. This led me to become certified as a personal trainer, nutrition coach, and gym owner towards the end of my career in corrections. Integrating my formal training as a therapist with my love for health has allowed me to adopt a holistic approach to treatment and life. I believe that no goal is too small or too large to accomplish, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
My therapeutic approach is direct and honest, and I’m very goal-driven. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also incorporate Person-Centered and Solution-Focused approaches to tailor my style to each unique client. Whether you’re dealing with depression, family or romantic relationship issues, stress, anger management, antisocial behavior, or anxiety, I’m here to help you navigate these challenges.
I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your journey to wellness. Please feel free to reach out and take the first step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.
