Michael Zavala

Michael Zavala

Salem, Oregon
Online

Michael Zavala is a registered associate therapist with Forever Family Counseling. He practices in Salem, Oregon. He uses online platforms to support children in their mental health through therapeutic gaming. Mr. Zavala’s love of outdoor sports and tabletop games has given him a keen ability to create a sense of belonging with others through the inclusion of games during therapy sessions. With a specialty in helping children with autism, he brings a sense of silliness into the therapeutic process to make the experience welcoming and fun.  All of Mr. Zavala’s services are provided via telehealth modalities. He’s licensed to practice in Kentucky as well. Therapeutic Gaming for Kids Using games as a medium, your child can engage in mental health support while feeling comfortable and motivated. Video games through online platforms can allow them to explore emotions, practice social skills, and build confidence in a safe setting. This method is particularly effective for kids with autism because it blends predictability with opportunities for interaction and creativity.  Playful activities can open up a mental capacity to encourage communication skills, problem-solving, and collaboration, making therapy enjoyable. Mr. Zavala’s incorporation of humor can help children feel focused during each interaction. We like that all this can be done from the comfort of your child’s home. Each game is about 90 minutes. Your child will likely be seen weekly, and each module is about six sessions.
