Patricia A Thompson MSSW LCSW-R is a clinical social worker and therapist based in Staten Island, New York. She’s currently part of the St George Community Counseling Services team and sees patients both in-person and via telehealth platforms.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

After over a decade of compassion-fueled therapy work, Patricia went back to her studies to complete a certificate in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. She now uses these methods to help people going through grief, substance use disorders, and any other mental health struggles that overlap with trauma.

Group Classes and Training for Adults & Parents

Ms. Thompson runs three group classes every week for adults looking to improve their emotional regulation skills. The first group focuses on anger management and includes court approved techniques for navigating triggering situations and controlling your responses to them.

The second group uses methods from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help parents understand their children, build healthy communication channels, and work through challenges their family is facing.

On Thursdays, she offers an adult skills training class for people with borderline personality or dealing with emotional disturbances. These sessions also lean on DBT to help adults manage emotions of all shapes and sizes.
