About Therapy.com
Finding a therapist shouldn’t be the hardest part of getting help.
With Therapy.com, the search takes minutes, not months.
Our Mission
Everyone deserves to find the right specialty, the right approach and someone they feel comfortable talking to.
We built this site in 2019 out of a simple frustration: The directories that existed were built for advertisers but not for the people trying to get better. So we decided to do things differently. We verify our listings through credible sources, including state licensing boards and national accrediting bodies. A licensed clinician or subject matter expert vets each article. We’re also 100% unbiased. No therapist can ever pay to rank higher in search.

How we vet
Every therapist here has been checked by a person
A listing does not go live because someone filled in a form. It goes live because we confirmed the licence, the credentials, and the identity behind it — and we keep checking after that.
-
We start with the public record.
We build our listings from the public record, including government data and state licensing board records, not paid submissions.
-
We build out practice details from published sources.
We use clinician and clinic websites, professional profile pages, and government directories to gather practice details like insurance, levels of care, and clinician specialties.
-
We encourage providers to claim their listing.
Our self-service Claim a Listing Dashboard is coming soon! Providers can use this tool to claim their profile and manage their listing, ensuring all details are current.
-
We regularly review listings, and act on concerns immediately.
We regularly recheck listings against public records. If readers, clinicians, or a member of our team raise a concern, we immediately launch an internal review to address the issue.
Editorial standards
What we publish, and who checks it
-
Reviewed by licensed clinicians
Licensed professionals with backgrounds in medicine, psychology, nursing, and social work review our guides on mental health conditions, medications, and therapies.
-
Sourced from named authorities
We include a complete list of sources at the end of every educational article, sourced from peer-reviewed research and data from industry associations.
-
Written to inform
Our articles explain what conditions look like and what treatment options involve but do not provide a diagnosis or recommend medications.
-
Independent of advertising
Therapy.com earns revenue from advertising and affiliate partnerships but these relationships do not influence the content of our articles or providers that appear in your search results.
