About Me

Christy Forrister is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) dedicated to helping individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clinical expertise, and hope. She believes that healing is possible for everyone and strives to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood.

With experience in a variety of clinical settings, Christy has worked with clients facing trauma, family conflict, relationship challenges, divorce, anxiety, depression, co-occurring mental health concerns, and adoption-related issues. As someone whose own family was formed through adoption, she brings a personal understanding of the identity, attachment, and relational dynamics that can shape adoption and blended family experiences.

Christy also has a meaningful understanding of cross-cultural and intercultural relationships, including the unique strengths and challenges that can arise in multicultural marriages and families. She is particularly attentive to communication differences, family systems, identity development, and cultural integration within relationships.

Her clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She collaborates with clients to build on strengths, develop healthy coping skills, improve communication, and create lasting change.

As a Christian therapist, Christy believes every person is created with inherent worth, dignity, and purpose. For clients who desire it, she is honored to integrate biblical principles, Scripture, and Christian faith into the counseling process. She also welcomes clients from all backgrounds and belief systems, providing a respectful and nonjudgmental space where each person’s values are honored.

Christy is passionate about helping individuals and families heal from trauma, navigate difficult transitions, strengthen relationships, and find hope in challenging seasons. She also has experience supporting those impacted by co-occurring concerns and the ripple effects these challenges can have within relationships and family systems.

Whether you are seeking support for personal growth, relational healing, cultural or family dynamics, or spiritual integration in counseling, Christy is committed to walking alongside you with compassion, wisdom, and practical guidance toward healing and wholeness.
