Afifa Barone

Albany, New York - Clinical Social Worker/therapist

Afifa Barone is a licensed clinical social worker practicing out of Albany, New York, specializing in attachment based psychotherapy through telehealth. The core of her work is identifying patterns as they relate to a client’s personal issues and encouraging long term change through empowerment. Her work is aimed at helping individuals overcome personal relationship issues. Her team also works with clients with cultural identity crises and strives to assist a diverse clientele. She also has experience with crisis intervention in her decade of practice. Breaking Down Patterns Behaviors become habitual over time. Most of us know this, but we often fail to recognize these patterns in ourselves. It’s when these patterns lock us into toxic or otherwise harmful patterns that they become dangerous. Ms. Barone works with each client to explore their experiences to better identify these patterns and understand where they come from. This approach puts you, not any diagnoses, center stage. It also aids in identifying your strengths, which you’ll use as part of counseling. Your Lived Experience Those new to therapy are sometimes concerned that the process is about fitting them into a predefined box. Ms. Barone recognizes and respects your lived experience; however, this naturally results in a responsive and individualized approach. There’s no “one size fits all” approach here.
