Mental Health in Hawaii
Many people think of Hawaii as a vacation destination and a paradise, and a place where life would feel like a vacation every day. But the fact is that people living in Hawaii deal with the same life challenges as people living anywhere else, and that includes mental health.
In fact, the Hawaii Department of Health reports that over 24,000 people receive services from their Adult Mental Health Division and over 5,000 receive services from their Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division.
As proactive and excellent as it is that Hawaii has such robust mental health care, it’s important to keep in mind that there are many more Hawaiians who don’t get treatment – the National Alliance on Mental Health reports that 187,000 adults in Hawaii have a mental illness.
No matter where you are on your mental health journey, Hawaii has resources and options to help you with your needs.
