LaDeana Artis

Paramus, New Jersey - Clinical Social Worker
Online

My name is LaDeana Artis and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have 21 years of experience in the field of mental health and 11 of those years, I have worked as a therapist in an Outpatient setting. Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate to work with many different populations of individuals and families present with a myriad of symptoms, stressors, and challenging life situations. My areas of specialization are working with individuals who have experienced trauma/abuse/neglect, abandonment/attachment issues, personality disorders, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, family conflict, perinatal mental health challenges, as well as relationship/marital concerns. I believe in meeting people where they are and therefore my approach tends to be more person-centered/humanistic in nature, as it would depend on the presenting/identified need of the individual or family. I tend to combine different treatment modalities, such as Cognitive behavior therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, Interpersonal therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Structural family therapy, and Motivational interviewing , developing interventions that may best meet the needs of the individual, couple, and/or family. The first step toward healing and positive change is identifying that there is something that one would like to improve or change about themselves. It takes strength and a sense of humility to allow yourself to be vulnerable and open enough to take that journey inward. If you are ready to do the work...ready for a journey of introspection...ready to carve out a path toward positive change...then this is the right place for you. I look forward to working with you.

In Person

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey. I have over nine years of experience working with substance use, mental health, and dual-diagnosis/co-occurring populations. I have worked in community agencies as well as hospital-based programs, and I have experience in several levels of care such as inpatient, outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Partial Hospitalization (PHP/APH), and Medication Assisted Treatment (Methadone, Vivitrol, Suboxone). I also have experience working with trauma in addition to severe and persistent mental illness (Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder, Personality Disorders) and coordinating crisis intervention with this population. My counseling style is warm, non-judgmental, and person-centered. I believe you are the expert on you, and as your counselor I am here to assist you in achieving the goals you wish to accomplish in therapy. Together we will collaborate to form a treatment plan, measurable and achievable goals, assessing your progress and adjusting accordingly as necessary. One of the most significant reasons I entered this profession, is that I am a firm believe that "a little compassion goes a long way". It only takes one person to help you see the light when you feel trapped in the darkness. I also believe in the importance of empowerment in order to rebuild self esteem, self worth, and self efficacy - and I am looking forward to working with you!
