I have been working with clients for over 30 years to help them make better choices so that they can be happier and more content, realize what strengths and good qualities they already posses, and to add coping behaviors to build upon those positive attributes. I utilize a variety of approaches that focus on the present and coping with current stressors, as well as identifying when any past issues needs to be addressed further to free up one’s energy to move in the direction they would like to go. I like to identify practical, manageable, as well as possible changes with my clients that can be reached by making changes they have control over - in small steps or leaps, respecting the pace a client wants. I include some practical coping behaviors from CBT, assertiveness and boundary setting, mindfulness and DBT types of treatment, as well as evaluating life style choices when changes in self care that may be advisable (but up to the client, of course). I also keep in mind the bigger picture of a client’s background and current life situation. For example, making changes in the middle of a pandemic may need a somewhat different focus, as well as with other life events like illness, divorce, moving, etc. I have worked with clients from young adulthood to elderly and of various ethnicities with respecting individual, family, and cultural values and issues. I am always willing to learn more from an individual’s experiences and welcome feedback as we work together In their counseling. I am available for morning and afternoon sessions

In Person

I have been called a “Soul Whisperer” by clients due to being highly intuitive, however it is more about teaching others to listen to their own intuition which knows what is in their most highest and greatest good for a full satisfying life. I love to inspire others to change the story that they tell themselves about the events that have happened in their lives, as this story was based on stress responses, emotional trauma, perceived fear, and outdated messages from the conditioning and programming received in childhood, leading to psychological, emotional and physical pain. Life is like a mirror that reflects back all the hurt, disappointment, anger, betrayal, rejection, abandonment, unmet needs, unrealistic expectations, guilt, shame, and disillusionment that a person holds onto as a victim of their circumstances. On the other side of depression and anger, anxiety and panic attacks, trauma and PTSD, borderline personality and addiction is self-understanding, self-acceptance, self-compassion, self-forgiveness, self-respect, resiliency, serenity, peace, and joy. I remember asking one of the counselors that I worked with twenty years ago, “Has there ever been anyone that you could not help as I think I might be that person because I am beyond repair, broken, damaged and there is no hope for me.” This counselor laughed and said “Never. I have a partnership with the Creator and no one has ever walked away without experiencing incredible personal growth and you won’t be my first.” She was right! I am 100% committed and dedicated to helping others discover meaning and purpose in their lives by supporting them on their own healing journey to stop the cycle of pain, addiction, violence, abuse, discrimination, abandonment, bullying, neglect, suicide, and trauma, all of which I have personally experienced myself. I am confident that I can help anyone who is truly looking to heal. It is not only about managing symptoms, but finding the source of suffering to promote clarity, healing, honesty, growth, compassion, forgiveness, accountability, self-care, and empowerment. It is about changing the self-talk, inner dialogue, and belief systems that no longer serve them and interferes with a healthy mind, body, and spirit connection. I am very passionate about helping others understand the negative thinking, victim mentality, shame cycle, codependency and emotional issues underlying mental health struggles and/or substance abuse patterns that keep them stuck, stagnant and enslaved to repeating behaviors that lead to self-sabotage and self-destruction. I am a caring, engaging, empathetic, and compassionate professional mental health and substance abuse counselor, with a very strong theoretical foundation in evidenced-based modalities, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Reality Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodrama, Breath Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Inner Child Work. I also encourage clients to discover the blocks that hold them back from moving ahead in the areas of career, finances, relationships, personal growth, recreation, health, romance and spirituality. I motivate others to let go of enabling and co-dependency, set and maintain healthy boundaries, practice reflective listening and conscious communication, process grief and loss, and discover the meaning and purpose of living. I look forward to helping anyone that is ready to embark on healing the past, embracing the present, creating a new future, and living an authentic and truthful life.

I am a psychotherapist/mental health counselor licensed in the state of Florida with over 30 years of experience working in a community mental health setting. While I do not provide counseling anymore in my current professional capacity, I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns particularly those with severe mental illness including those with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, addiction, thought process disturbances, and affective/mood problems. On a limited basis, I also helped individuals who experienced emotional abuse. My counseling work is through the community mental health agency for which I work which I integrated in my administrative capacity to enhance my clinical expertise. I am an eclectic counselor who conducts my assessment from a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic and social learning perspective. My counseling approach is direct and interactive that combines cognitive-behavioral, social learning, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and rational-emotive approaches. It is my belief that you have the solutions within you to overcome the challenges that you are facing, and I am here to guide you and uncover your inner strength. It does take courage to reach out for help in your search for a more fulfilling and happier life, and an even stronger courage to take the first step towards a change. I begin to see subscribers in the evenings and prefer that you evaluate your schedule and examine my published schedule here and schedule a session that best fits your availability.
