About Me
Clients searching for peace while facing life challenges can find support from Irini Georgas at Paz Counseling, located at The Source in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The word paz means peace in Spanish, and the word Irini means peace in Greek. Georgas’ goal is to help bring peace to clients’ lives through individual and couples counseling.
Diverse Expertise
Georgas has lived in New Mexico for more than two decades, but grew up in Australia. Georgas offers sessions in English, Greek, and Spanish to meet the diverse needs of the population of Albuquerque.
She provides culturally sensitive treatment that is tailored to each individual. She has worked with trauma survivors, crime victims, victims of abuse, individuals experiencing addiction, as well as those who are simply unsatisfied with the general direction of their lives.
Therapy Approaches
Georgas takes a person-centered approach to therapy. She offers Rogerian methods that utilize acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), relationship enhancement therapy and existential therapy techniques. Her goal is for her clients to leave each session with a plan of action to address their current life challenges.Â
Georgas also offers a monthly group therapy session where clients can focus on learning evidence based skills and practice communication skills.
Payment Options
Georgas accepts some insurance plans and Medicaid. She also offers self-give options (as opposed to self-pay), which means she works with clients on a sliding scale fee based on what they can afford to give for treatment. This includes free sessions in some cases.
