Leslie Wood

Welcome, my name is Leslie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have over 13 years of experience working in the field. I have worked in community counseling centers, organizations specializing child abuse and in private practice. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, PTSD, various forms of childhood abuse such as sexual, physical and emotional, relationship issues, parenting problems, life transitions and helping people focus on what creates true joy in their lives.

My counseling theory is known as Adlerian or individual counseling. This theory proposes that our lifestyles are heavily influenced by our childhood and family situations, as well as by society. We function best when we are successful by our own individual standards and when we feel connected to other people and society as a whole. I also have a great deal of experience and training in client centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused and solution focused therapies and use those methods in my practice.

Our relationship will be a collaborative one to establish your goals for counseling. I will used a variety of methods to help you gain insight and motivation resulting in action such as exploring family history and early memories, homework assignments, contracts, suggestions, and processing your feelings and thoughts.
