Angelo Ortiz, LCSW-R, SIFI is the founder, CEO and clinical director of Ortiz Psychotherapy and Consultation in the Bronx, New York. He has been providing psychotherapy services for more than 30 years. They are located in an urban community in a one-story office building with ample street parking available, as well as access to public transportation.

Ortiz focuses on treating diverse and economically-challenged clients and knows firsthand about the challenges these populations face. He is a first-generation American, raised by Dominican parents. Since starting in the field, he has held roles as a youth counselor, substance abuse counselor, grant writer and coalition coordinator and community organizer, among many others.

He practices compassionate and culturally sensitive care with the hope of creating new and long-term life-changing opportunities for his clients to grow and flourish. Angelo uses many forms of therapy to address his clients’ mental health issues including exposure therapy, to address traumatic memories or instances that may have had lasting negative effects on his clients. He also practices behavioral activation, eclectic therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. 

Creative and Somatic Therapy Methods

I like that Ortiz works with families whose relationships have faltered due to mental illness and addiction. He works with couples using emotionally focused therapy and for children, he incorporates play therapy. Other holistic and creative approaches include somatic experiencing, psychospiritual therapy and Reiki.
